Performances and Awards

Jose Luis Hernandez performed at the city of McAllen's Civic Center last week before an audience of close to one thousand people. He received a standing ovation after his performance of Franz Liszt's Trancendental Etude in F minor. This perfomance was part of the City of McAllen Texas Cultural events. Due to his success, he has been invited to perform in McAllen next season.

Jose Luis has been awarded a Lili Kraus Piano Scholarship to attend the prestigious Music Program at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. under the tutelage of Dr. Tamas Ungar.

In May, Jose Luis graduated from High School as Valedictorian of his class at Grace Christian School in Pharr, TX.

Jose Luis will be attending the Austin Chamber Music Festival in July, 2002.

During the month of July, Jose Luis performed chamber music recitals in different Austin venues including: St. Stephen's Episcopal School, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and KMFA Classical Radio.

Jose Luis' biography has been included in the 2002-2003 edition of Who is Who among American High School Students.

Jose Luis is now a member of the TCU House of Student Representatives. (2002-2003)

Jose Luis performed Ponce's Balada Mexicana at Steinway Hall in Dallas. (Oct. 19)

Jose Luis has been elected as chairman for TCU House of Student Representatives Academic Affairs Committee.

Jose Luis attended the National Characted and Leadership Symposium held at The United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs. He had an opportunity to meet with distinguished speakers, scholars, and U.S. government officials. February 25-29, 2003

Jose Luis is recognized as TCU Scholar by the College of Fine Arts for academic achievement. May 10, 2003.

Jose Luis received the prestigious TCU "University Leadership Award 2003." April 27, 2003.

Jose Luis is elected SGA's Academic Affairs Chair for the Fall 2003 term. April 29, 2003.

Jose Luis received an invitation to perform the Manuel M. Ponce piano concerto with the National Youth Orchestra of Mexico at the National Center for the Arts and the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City. April, 2003

Jose Luis partipated at the Austin Chamber Music Center's annual summer institute as a faculty member, and performer. July, 2003

Jose Luis performed in recital at Austin, TX. Selections included Haydn's Piano Trio in G Hob. 25 and Manuel M. Ponce's Balada Mexicana. August 8, 2003
